The Holidays

The holidays can either bring out the best or the worst of you and your family. There are always at least two sides to every family, and this year my side decided to have a very Grinchy Christmas. I won't go into details, but for now it looks like my daughter will only have one aunt. Jason and I are having a pretty decent season. He went on leave last week and has been home, relaxing and playing video games while not playing with Lyra. We celebrated Yule yesterday by burning frankincense and myrrh on a block of wood, burning some bayberry incense, and keeping a red candle lit for Cernunnos from dawn til dusk. Then we all opened up a gift; I got Jason the movie Pete's Dragon (which we both loved as kids), Lyra opened up her jingling teether Eeyore toy, and I got a huge new cutting board.
Lyra, in my eyes, alternates day to day between looking more like me or her father. This video clip shows her looking very much like Jason.

We had a wonderful holiday with Jason's parents and grandparents here a couple weeks ago and are awaiting my mom on Friday. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, and consider yourself blessed to be with whoever will happily spend it with you.
